Finikounda
FINIKOUNDA: the Exotic
Finikounda does not have many palm-trees, but hides in its bosom the most enchanting beaches of Messinia. These sandy beaches have made this small coastal fishing village a popular summer holiday resort. The village was established 150 years ago by fishermen from Crete and is literally built on the sand!
The main beach situated in front of the village of Finikounda has coarse sand with small pebbles, and attracts large crowds thanks to many cafes, restaurants and hotels located along its length.
To the south of the village lies the sandy beach of Ligonammos, and nearby spreads the pebbled beach of Loutsa.
To the west of the village there is the stunning sandy beach of Anemomylos, which is approximately 3 km long and offers to the guests the opportunity to indulge in water sports. It has camping, taverns and cafes.
The Anemomylos beach is so large, that even on the busiest summer days you will find enough space to sit and admire the crystal clear waters of the Messinian Gulf.
In Finikounda, which is 60 km from Kalamata, you can find many hotels, rooms to let and traditional taverns with Greek music, where you can have fun till dawn.
